The 6th Quantum Solid Flagship Seminar

The 6th Quantum Solid Flagship Seminar was held in the Tokyo Tech meeting room and online (via zoom) on Friday, October 14th from 11:10 am. The speaker, Dr. Mathieu Munsch, is the co-founder and CEO of Qnami, a Start-up company from the University of Basel, Switzerland.

Qnami launched the first scanning NV (nitrogen-vacancy) microscope onto the market. Dr. Munsch is a member of the strategy and industrial committee of the European Quantum Flagship Program.

In his lecture, he introduced its applications such as magnetic field distribution mapping of magnetic nanowires, antiferromagnetic microstructure imaging in multiferroic materials, observation of atomically thin magnetic layers in van der Waals materials, and defect distribution measurement in MRAM in addition to the principle of diamond NV probe microscopy.

He also shared his experiences as an NV Diamond-based company which originally started from the University of Basel. About 40 people participated in the seminar, both on-site and online. Many thoughtful questions were asked mainly by students and young researchers, which made the seminar very fun and lively.
